| Sandwich CD (2009)
$10.75 Just when you thought vintage late-'90s funk-metal freakouts had inhaled their last breath, along comes Psychostick's Sandwich. ~ Greg Prato As evidenced over the years, "comedy metal" can certainly be a dicey affair. Personnel: Joshua Key, Jake McReynolds (vocals, guitars); Jimmy Grant (vocals, bass guitar); Rob Kersey (vocals); Alex Preiss (drums). For every stroke of genius (Spinal Tap), there is a seemingly long line of best-forgotten foolers (Green Jelly). Audio Mixer: Joshua Key. Bungle's self-titled album from 1991 and you won't be far off from the approach that the chaps in Psychostick offer on their 2009 release, Sandwich, as evidenced by such ditties as "Caffeine," "Girl Directions," and "Vah-jay-jay" (the latter of which is a brief tune about a certain part of the female anatomy). Picture a more straightforward/less abstract (from a songwriting standpoint) take on Mr. As evidenced over the years, "comedy metal" can be all over the map, from Spinal Tap to Green Jelly. Just when you thought vintage late-'90s funk-metal freakouts had thankfully inhaled their last breath, along comes Psychostick's Sandwich. Another fitting description could be a bunch of drunken frat boys who have decided to take the music plunge, as evidenced by such dimwitted ditties as "Caffeine," "Girl Directions," and "Vah-jay-jay" (the latter of which is a brief tune about a certain part of the female anatomy).
