Ronnie Lane Biography
As a key member of both the Small Faces and later the Faces, bassist/guitarist/songwriter Artist was often forced to take a backseat to bigger personalities Steve Marriott, Rod Stewart, and Ron Wood. Yet Lane remained one of the most delightful and beloved figures on the British rock scene of the 1960s and '70s. Following the dissolution of the Faces, he formed the band Slim Chance, a musical embodiment of his personality. Slim Chance's amiable blend of shambolic country, blues, and English folk never quite cracked the charts, but it perfectly displayed Lane's excellent songwriter skills and carefree underdog persona. Lane was diagnosed with MS in the late 1970s, and he succumbed to the disease in 1997.
