Nu-metal hopefuls Switched (spelled in the gimmicky manner Sw1tched as often as not on the band's website and other official material) came out of a surprisingly fertile Cleveland scene that also brought listeners Mushroomhead and Chimaira. Subject to Change, the debut disc following an inexpensive teaser of live cuts and one non-album track called Spread Your E.P., has the requisite energetic riffing, screamed vocals, and cathartic takes on life the genre demands, but little here helps the band stand out from a very crowded pack of similar artists. The band's musical dexterity and enthusiasm are notable and show promise for future endeavors, but don't quite make up for the obvious lack of fresh ideas at this time. ~ Brian O'Neill
