This second album by the Brooklyn-based indie rockers the Teenage Prayers is a fun trip in the time machine to an idealized version of the hard rocking 1970s. Elements of the New York Dolls, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult, and the Kinks are all over these swaggering but tuneful songs. Highlights include the glammy rocker "I'll Never Let You Go" and the more measured, soulful "I'm In Love Again." Better songwriters than Wolfmother and far less goofy than the Darkness or Mika, the Teenage Prayers are retro rockers of a type rarely seen since Redd Kross broke up.
