DOOM GLOOM HEARTACHE & WHISKEY is produced by Rich Gavalis (the Bloodhound Gang), who ensures that a dash of humor is always present in the mix. And if the description might be a bit flowery it's still fairly accurate for Viking Skull, who on their third album, Doom Gloom Heartache & Whisky, are clearly dedicated to that most noble of goals: riffs that collapse skulls and hooks that roar with swagger. Featuring members of Raging Speedhorn and the first to spotlight drummer Jess Margera (CKY and brother of television personality Bam Margera), Viking Skull's latest is nine tracks of alcoholic southern rock with a modern edge. DOOM GLOOM HEARTACHE & WHISKEY is a full-on, moonshine-swilling, Black Sabbath-inspired stampede of hard rock. Brawling, ugly biker, art rock-metal might be an oxymoron in some universes but not, thankfully, in ours.
