| Infected Mushroom Perfecto music Legend Of The Black Shawarma CD (2009)
$13.59 "Killing Time," a broody, down-tempo collaboration with Porno for Pyros' Perry Farrell marks the album's most conventionally "rock" moment. But even at their most rocking, the lysergic twists and turns and sonic experimentation of the group's earliest dancefloor efforts always seem to shine through Providing further grist for the evolution of electronica in the `00s are psytrance innovators Infected Mushroom. Tracks like "Smashing the Opponent," featuring Korn front man Jonathan Davis, combine bubbling synth sequences with menacing guitar riffs and arena-sized breakdowns, coming across more like a live act than a DJ duo. While IM's previous efforts dabbled in eclecticism far outside the purview of club-oriented psytrance and its subsequent "progressive" variants, the duo's 2009 effort, LEGEND OF THE BLACK SHAWARMA, delves even further into the realms of breakbeat-influenced heavy rock and metal.

| DJ Skribble Perfecto CDs Perfecto Presents... Spring Break CD (2005)
$13.35 Perfecto regulars looking for that headphone journey might want to sample this in-your-face mix, but sweaty clubgoers who just want it hard and hypnotic should be more than happy. DJ Skribble's mix for Perfecto offers a more mainstream and American affair than the label usually releases, which may be alienating for fans who always think of Perfecto as the last word in progressive trance. Rather than the theatrical atmospheres and dreamy, widescreen melodies usually found on a Perfecto release, Skribble plays it hard and tribal with plenty of sensuality and a little camp figured in. Big hits like Deep Dish's "Flashdance" and Club 69's "Twisted" are offered in more stripped-down and dark mixes, and a couple new Skribble creations are only available here. Diva vocalists are plentiful as are disco strings and phrases like "get up!" and "can you feel it!" Skribble wins by keeping it simple and pointed directly at the dancefloor while weeding out the more gimmicky tracks the mainstream house genre is cluttered by.
