Unkle Bob are Rick Webster (vocals, guitar), Stuart Cartwright (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin), Ron Yeadon (drums, percussion), Tad MacDonald (bass) and Geoff Widdowson (keyboards). Formed in and around Glasgow University in the last few years, Unkle Bob have an uncanny knack of sounding like they've been hanging around your record collection your whole life. Sugar and Spite is an incredible debut- as memorable as Murmer, as definitive as Definitely, Maybe, I promise you it’s that good. Birds and the Bees recalls a Fables of the Reconstruction era REM as well as the Magic Numbers and those all-but-forgotten legendary tunesmiths Friends Again. The Hit Parade is a song that says everything you’ve ever wanted to say about love. Better Off is as bitterly beautiful as Radiohead or Suede and a song for anyone who has stumbled upon their best friend sleeping with the woman they love. It is a very special record, and with it, Unkle Bob have demonstrated that they have the wherewithal to be one of this decade’s greatest bands. And it is also a record that you will want to listen to again and again- just to make sure it is as good as you think it is. Let me promise you it is. The debut album 'Sugar and Spite' is OUT NOW on Friendly Sounds / Mother City - a label set up by Ex-James guitarist Saul Davies and Aaron Moore (Ministry of Sound/ EMI). Spring 2007 saw Unkle Bob play stirring sets to an enthusiastic audience of thousands, as they supported Travis and The Feeling on their German, Dutch and French tours. Their song "Swans" was used on Grey's Anatomy Season 3 Episode 17 and Unkle Bob have received a lot of attention from American fans since then.
